CHATTERIS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
2nd DECEMBER 2017
PUT THE DATE IN YOUR DIARY NOW AND ORGANISE PARTIES FOR FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Switch-on night has become one of the main events of the year for Chatteris. Each year we approach one of the two local Primary Schools to nominate a child to join Santa to switch on the lights from Market Hill Gardens. For 2016 it was the turn of Kingsfield who nominated Mia Howard.
From approximately 3.00pm the Town Centre is always packed as traders entertain their customers with seasonal cheer and street entertainment and fair ground rides keep the crowds happy, especially the children.
The event includes Stalls with a festive feel, representing local organisations and small businesses, in the Market Hill area - if you are interested in taking a pitch click here to contact us.
The Salvation Army hold a Christmas Fayre where there is a chance to pick up some bargains for presents and decorations.Everyone enjoys the Variante Ensemble who play seasonal music in Market Hill Gardens.
There is always a queue of eager children waiting to visit Santa in his grotto so see him again this year at Ellis Winters. Funds raised are given to local good causes.
In St Peter & St Paul's Parish Church the annual Christmas Tree Festival is always a very popular attraction, as are their refreshments.
The Emmanuel Church in East Park Street serve hot soup.
So make sure you have the date in your diary and invite family and friends from outside the area to join you on the evening to start your Festive Season.
Volunteers, Donors and Fund Raisers are always needed so, to be part of that support, click on the links at the side to see how you can help.
