Chatteris Christmas Lights Established in 1985
Established in 1985, Chatteris Christmas Lights are recognised as the best display for many, many miles around and the scheme is acknowledged as superior to those in much larger towns and cities.
The Lights Committee is entirely voluntary and the results of their many hours of hard work, before and after the Switch On event, are enthusiastically appreciated by the residents and visitors to Chatteris over the Festive Season.
During the Festive Season the Lights are on daily from 3.00 p.m. until Midnight so you can come into town, wander through the main streets to enjoy them, and then drop in to one of the restaurants, cafeterias, public houses or take-aways for some refreshment.
The lights have been a great success story from the outset, and with well deserved support from the community, will continue to be so. Volunteers, Donors and Fund Raisers are always needed so, to be part of that support, Click on the button below.
THE CHRISTMAS TREEs
The trees have been purchased from Nuntons and collected and delivered by ‘Trucker Tim’ through Rowell’s Transport (Free of Charge) and feature in the Churchyard and Market Hill Gardens. They are erected on the last Saturday before the Switch-On.
In 2024 the Trees cost £2050.

SWITCH ON 2025
Saturday 29th NOVEMBER at 4.30 pm
Switch-on night
Switch-on night has become one of the main events of the year for Chatteris. Each year we approach one of the three local Primary Schools to nominate a child to join Santa to switch on the lights from Market Hill Gardens.
CHRISTMAS TOWN
From approximately 3.00pm the Town Centre is always packed as traders entertain their customers with seasonal cheer and street entertainment.
The fair ground rides keep the crowds happy, especially the children.
EVERYONE WELCOME
The event includes Stalls with a festive feel, representing local organisations and small businesses, in the Market Hill area.

CHATTERIS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS Donations
The Committee are grateful to Chatteris Town Council who have awarded grants each year towards the annual staging of the lights and the Switch-on. However, every year there is still a lot of money needed to pay for the maintenance, replacement of bulbs and equipment, decorations and trees, and for upgrading of major features.
