CHATTERIS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
VOLUNTEERS
0There is always a need for more Volunteers to assist with the erection, maintenance and taking down of the lights. They are welcome however much or little time they can spare – no technical skills are required, but always welcome. Individual Hi-Viz bibs, bump caps and work gloves are allocated. We regularly review all necessary precautions each year in line with H&S Guidelines.
Erection in 2026 will start on Saturday 10th October from 8.00am at the store at the front of the Empress Swimming Pool in Park Street.
The team are out from 8.00 working on Saturdays and Sundays throughout October and November (except Remembrance Sunday) until erection is completed on the weekend before Switch-on.
WHAT GOES UP
MUST COME DOWN
Dismantling starts on the first weekend following twelfth night, the time taken depends on the numbers of volunteers available and the weather conditions. The work is likely to require two weekends.
If you wish to help in 2026 we will be dismantling the display commencing Saturday 10th January.
You can do your bit by joining us. If 8.00 am is too early you can join the team at any stage by finding them around the town. Working clothes are essential but hi-viz bibs, working gloves and hard hats are supplied as required.
In 2025 we started a process of Upgrading all of the Electrics and Power Supply points throughout the town. This work will continue through 2026 so look out for weekends where you may be able to assist. Watch our Facebook Page for details.

CHATTERIS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS Donations
The Committee are grateful to Chatteris Town Council who have awarded grants each year towards the annual staging of the lights and the Switch-on. However, every year there is still a lot of money needed to pay for the maintenance, replacement of bulbs and equipment, decorations and trees, and for upgrading of major features.

Recently we have sold Personalised Baubles to hang from the Bandstand Gardens Tree through a Just Giving Page which can also be used for Donations.
