Thank you so much

Thanks are extended to the owners and proprietors of the many premises in Chatteris to which we attach lighting features. Over the years we have dramatically reduced energy consumption with the move to low wattage lamps and fittings. Particular thanks go to those from whom we draw electricity to light up the display and especially those who donate the value of the energy we use.

Thanks must also go to the providers of transport, teleporters and equipment over the years, without which the erection of many of the lighting features would have been impossible. The teleporter drivers have done sterling work and given their time generously.

We would like to thank:
David Jackson; George Munns; Robert Smith, David Payne, Maurice Buck, Barry Wing, George Rowell and Trucker Tim.

The Volunteers are also very grateful to the generous supporters who offer gifts of sweets, biscuits, cakes and drinks as they carry out their work and to the Old Bakery Tearooms who cater for our refreshment breaks on each of the workdays.

The generous provision of a post Switch On meal for the Volunteers has been a much appreciated gift of the Cross Keys.

We are always pleased to hear the views of the public and below is a small selection of the messages received:

Chatteris Town Council have asked me to pass on their congratulations and thanks to Chatteris Christmas Lights Committee for another fantastic display. Once again the lights are helping to put Chatteris on the map and thank you to all who have worked so hard in putting up and maintaining the lights. JM

WHO TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF?

A brand New Year, the Lights are down,

How gloomy now does look the Town.

Just a few short weeks ago

Every building was aglow.

The Lights have gone for another year

But lighter nights start to appear

The darkness now gets less each day

But snow could still be on the way!

Mother Nature weaves her spell

What’s round the corner? Who can tell?

Don’t think of it as time of gloom

Moving forward – ‘Chatteris in Bloom’!

Look up, look down, look all around

Lots of bulbs and shoots abound.

Even the grapevine, withered and bare,

Showing buds of new life there.

Still the days and the nights are dark,

But soon we’ll hear the morning lark

“Wake up, Wake up”! we hear them call

Another day, enjoy them all.

And so again the months will fly,

Seasons change in the blink of an eye.

Through sunshine , winds, heatwaves and rain

SOON BE TIME FOR THE LIGHTS AGAIN
